MODULE FOUR: CREATING CHANGE

Welcome to Module Four. In this module, we are going to get really practical. We’ll firstly be looking at the topic of people-pleasing, and understanding how this may be affecting you and showing up in your life. When you’ve identified them we’ll then look at ways to reduce your people-pleasing ways.

We’ll also start to explore just how to build better boundaries, so that you make space for the changes you wish to make and to ensure you feel more in control and better protected. I’ll equip you with the tools, the language and the knowledge of just how you can introduce boundaries into your life and most importantly, how to then maintain them.

Please make sure to download and work through your workbook as you complete the module.

(Workbooks are fillable, so that you can edit them directly on your computer. To access them, download the workbooks to your computer first, and then open the file from your computer and complete it. Remember to press save once you’ve finished!)

VIDEO ONE:

Have you ever avoided making changes because you were worried about what others would think or say? In this video, we’ll look at people-pleasing, how this may be showing up in your own life and how these behaviours are keeping you stuck.

I want this programme to enable you to make sustainable, long-lasting change, and so it is vital that we address the ways that people-pleasing is holding you back. We’ll explore what people-pleasing is and what it really means. We’ll also explore the five types of people-pleasers and identify which one feels most like you. This is actually the fun bit!

Lastly, I’ll empower you to feel safe enough to begin stepping away from these behaviours so you can move forward to create change with ease and a lot more confidence.

VIDEO TWO

In this video, we’ll build on what we discussed in Video One and take a closer look at the people around you and how they are impacting on your life. The people that we spend time with leave their mark on us. There’s a saying that we are “the sum of the five people we spend the most time with” and on that basis, we need to take a closer look at the affect the people in our lives are having on us. This can be an eye opener!

I’ll guide you towards acknowledging who in your life makes you feel really good. Who celebrates you? Who makes you feel your best? Who lifts you up? We’ll also look at who perhaps drains your energy. Who in your life leaves you feeling flat and depleted?

Now, this isn’t about ‘banishing’ people from your life, if they don’t always make you feel good; however, it’s important to be aware of it so that you can make the best decisions for yourself.

VIDEO THREE

We’ve looked so far at people-pleasing and identifying how the people in your life make you feel. In this third and final video, we’ll take a look now at building boundaries.

This was a real turning point for me in my change journey. I realised that I had become so consumed by what others wanted from me, that I had no idea what I wanted for myself. It was at that point I knew I needed to bring boundaries into my life.

We’ll look at what a boundary really is, how to know when you might need to put one in place and the three stages to building better boundaries. We’ll also explore some of the resistance and obstacles that you might be feeling to putting boundaries in place and learn how to overcome that.
